SPOTLIGHT

We were lucky enough to host an advance screening of this film back in late October. The fantastic screenplay paired with a strong acting ensemble (Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci) delivers a film that is heart-wrenching and inspiring. The Boston Globe reporting team known as Spotlight uncovers the priest scandal that shook the Greater-Boston area in the early 2000s and the film is already getting a ton of award season attention, especially in the Best Picture category.

BROOKLYN

Saoirse Ronan stars in “Brooklyn”, a film about an Irish immigrant struggling with the choice between her life in America or her life back home in Ireland and the love she has for both places. Already receiving critical acclaim, especially for Ronan’s performance as Eilis Lacey, this coming-of-age story is both beautiful and magical.

THE DANISH GIRL

Eddie Redmayne stunned in last year’s “A Theory of Everything”, winning him the Best Actor award at the 2015 Oscars. This year, he has teamed up with Academy Award-nominated director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables) and up-and-coming actress, Alicia Vikander. Set in 1920s Copenhagen, the film tells the story of a young man who becomes the first man to ever receive a gender-reassignment surgery. If we learned anything about Redmayne last year, it was that he can disappear into any role, and this one is no exception.

TRUMBO

Bryan Cranston stars as Dalton Trumbo, a highly sought after Hollywood screenwriter who gets blacklisted based on his political beliefs shortly after the end of World War II. Co-starring Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, Louis C.K., Elle Fanning and John Goodman, this film is sure to provide a little comedy to your weekend while giving you a taste of that old Hollywood glamour we have all been craving.

THE GOOD DINOSAUR

Pixar. Disney. Dinosaurs. This movie looks like the perfect film for the kids, and let’s be honest, the adults too. Pack some tissues, because we know that any Pixar film is going to tug on some serious heart strings.
