This week, GIFF had the privilege of hosting an advance screening of the film ARRIVAL to a packed theater at Bow Tie Criterion Cinemas at Greenwich Plaza. Guests enjoyed GIFFT Chardonnay wine, Stella Artois beer, and a selection of red wines from Val’s Putnam Wines & Liquors prior to the screening.

Colleen deVeer, Director of Programming and co-Founder, introduced the film along with Wendy Reyes, Chairman of the Board and co-Founder, and Ginger Stickel, Executive Director and COO. The pre-show included a Betteridge commercial as well as the first public screening of the GIFF 2016 Festival Highlights trailer.

ARRIVAL, directed by Denis Villeneuve (PRISONERS, SICARIO) and starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker, tells the story of Dr. Louise Banks, a linguist recruited by the military to assist in translating alien communications. What Dr. Banks discovers along the way is what sets this film apart from other sci-fi films.
